Under the following conditions, recordings were conducted within the “difficult-to-return zone” in Ōkuma Town, Fukushima Prefecture, together with town hall staff:
– Each person has a personal recorder.
– We all began recording simultaneously at a starting point.
– Once recording has started, each person is free to explore the area independently.
– Everyone regathered at a set time and ended the recordings simultaneously. The four recordings were played back in sync through four separate speakers. Starting from the moment when everyone was together in the same place, the sound gradually shifts as each person begins to walk alone, revealing four distinct sets of footsteps. In the latter half of the recordings, two participants happen to meet on the beach, while the other two meet atop a seawall still under construction. At the very moment the pair on the beach are reacting to getting wet near the shoreline, the other pair are discussing Mr. Kimura, who continues to recover human remains.
